How to suspend, unsuspend or log in as a client in WHM

Before suspending an account

Suspension interrupts the client's website, control-panel access and email.

Record:

  • Why the account is being suspended
  • Who authorised the action
  • When the client was notified
  • Whether the action is connected to billing or abuse

WHM does not invoice clients. If you use WHMCS, configure its automation separately. See How to connect WHMCS to my Webway reseller account.

Suspend a client account

  1. Sign in to WHM on port 2087.
  2. Open Account Functions.
  3. Select Manage Account Suspension.
  4. Find the client's username or domain.
  5. Enter a clear suspension reason.
  6. Select Suspend.

Alternatively, open List Accounts and use the suspension action beside the account.

Test the client's domain after suspending it.

Unsuspend a client account

  1. Open Manage Account Suspension.
  2. Find the affected account.
  3. Select Unsuspend.
  4. Wait for WHM to complete the action.
  5. Test the website and cPanel access.

Unsuspending the account does not repair application, DNS or billing problems that may still exist.

Log in to a client's cPanel

  1. Open Account Information.
  2. Select List Accounts.
  3. Find the client's domain or username.
  4. Select the cPanel login icon.
  5. Complete only the work authorised by the client.
  6. Sign out when finished.

You don't need the client's cPanel password when using WHM's account-login function.

Use client access carefully

When logged in as the client, you can view or change website files, databases, mailboxes and forwarders, DNS records, SSL settings, backups and application configuration.

Do not open private email or download client data unless it is required and authorised. Record any material changes made while troubleshooting.
