How to create a hosting package and client account in WHM

Sign in to WHM

Open https://SERVER-HOSTNAME:2087, replacing SERVER-HOSTNAME with your reseller server hostname, and sign in with your WHM reseller username and password.

Create a hosting package

A package defines the resources and features available to a client account.

  1. Open Packages.
  2. Select Add a Package.
  3. Enter a short package name.
  4. Set its resource limits.
  5. Select the features clients should receive.
  6. Save the package.

Common limits include:

Setting Purpose
Disk quota Maximum storage for websites, databases and email
Monthly bandwidth Monthly data-transfer allowance
FTP accounts Number of additional FTP users
Email accounts Number of mailboxes
Email lists Number of mailing lists
Databases Number of MySQL databases
Subdomains Number of subdomains
Addon domains Number of additional hosted domains
Parked domains Number of domain aliases

Do not allocate more resources than your reseller account permits.

WHM prefixes the package name with your reseller username. Record the complete package name because billing systems such as WHMCS must use it exactly.

Choose package features

Review settings such as:

  • Feature list
  • Locale
  • CGI access
  • Shell access
  • Dedicated IP address
  • Spam filtering
  • Email sending limits

Do not enable shell access unless Webway has enabled SSH for the account. SSH is disabled by default.

Create the client account

  1. Open Account Functions.
  2. Select Create a New Account.
  3. Enter the client's domain without www.
  4. Review the automatically suggested username.
  5. Generate a strong password.
  6. Enter the client's contact email address.
  7. Select the package you created.
  8. Leave the account on the shared IP unless Webway has assigned a dedicated IP.
  9. Review the DNS and mail-routing settings.
  10. Create the account.

Keep the default DNS and mail-routing settings unless you know you need something else.

Creating the hosting account does not register the domain.

Point the domain to the account

Change the domain's nameservers to dns1.webway.host and dns2.webway.host at its registrar. See Point my domain to Webway (change nameservers).

If the domain uses external DNS, point its web records to the reseller server instead. WHM shows the shared IP when you create the account, or ask support.

Upload or install the website

Once the account exists, the client can upload website files, create databases and email accounts, and install WordPress or other applications. See How to create a MySQL database and use phpMyAdmin and How to move a WordPress site to Webway.

Free Let's Encrypt SSL is issued automatically after the domain points to the server.
