How to add a user or contact to my client area account
Users and contacts are different
| Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| User | Has their own login to your client area, with the permissions you choose |
| Contact | Receives selected account emails, such as invoices, but can't log in |
A person can be both if they need access and should receive billing or service emails.
Never share your own client area password.
Invite a user
- Sign in at portal.webway.host.
- Open your name menu (top-right).
- Select User Management.
- Choose to invite a new user.
- Enter the person's email address.
- Choose the permissions they need.
- Send the invitation.
They receive an email and sign in with their own login.
Choose permissions carefully
Give only the access the person's role needs. A web developer may need your services but not invoices; someone in accounts may need billing but not hosting. Review permissions when someone changes role or leaves.
Remove a user
- Open User Management.
- Select the user.
- Remove their access or change their permissions.
This removes their access to your account; it doesn't delete their own Webway login.
Add a contact
- Open your name menu.
- Select Contacts.
- Add a new contact with their name and email address.
- Choose which types of email they should receive, for example invoices, domain notices or support messages.
- Save.
Keep at least one current contact who can receive urgent domain and billing notices.
Protect every login
Each user should use a unique password and turn on two-factor authentication. See How to turn on two-factor authentication for my client area.
Webway never asks for passwords or two-factor codes by email. See How to spot phishing emails pretending to be Webway.
If the account owner is unavailable
Open a support ticket or email support@webway.host. Webway will verify authority and ownership before changing access.
