How to log in to cPanel or DirectAdmin

Your control panel is where you manage email accounts, files, databases, DNS and more. Webway hosting uses cPanel or DirectAdmin. If you are not sure which you have, see Which control panel do I have: cPanel or DirectAdmin?

There are two ways in. The client area route is easiest because you don't need to remember a separate password.

Option 1: One-click login from the client area (both panels)

  1. Log in to portal.webway.host with your client area email and password.
  2. Go to Services → My Services.
  3. Click the hosting service you want to manage.
  4. On the service page, click the button to log in to your control panel.
  5. Your control panel opens in a new tab. No second password is needed.

If the button opens a page that won't load, see The login page won't load below.

Option 2: Log in directly

You need your control panel username and password. These were in your welcome email and are different from your client area login and your email passwords.

Replace example.co.za with your domain.

cPanel

  1. Go to https://example.co.za:2083
  2. Enter your cPanel username. This is usually a short name based on your domain, not an email address.
  3. Enter your cPanel password.
  4. Click Log in.

DirectAdmin

  1. Go to https://example.co.za:2222
  2. Enter your DirectAdmin username.
  3. Enter your DirectAdmin password.
  4. Click Sign in.

If your domain isn't pointing to Webway yet

The addresses above only work once your domain's DNS points to your Webway server. Until then, use Option 1, which always works.

Three different passwords

Mixing these up is the most common login problem.

Login Where you use it Where to change it
Client area portal.webway.host: billing, invoices, support tickets Client area → your name → Change Password
Control panel cPanel (:2083) or DirectAdmin (:2222) Inside the panel. cPanel: Password & Security. DirectAdmin: Password
Email mailbox Webmail and email apps Inside the panel under Email Accounts / E-mail Accounts

Changing one does not change the others.

Forgot your control panel password?

Easiest: use the client area

  1. Log in at portal.webway.host and open the hosting service (Option 1 above).
  2. Click the login button to open the panel without a password.
  3. Set a new password inside the panel: cPanel → Password & Security; DirectAdmin → Password.

The service page in the client area also has a Change Password section that sets a new control panel password directly.

Forgot your client area password too?

Use the Forgot Password link on the portal.webway.host login page. A reset link is emailed to the address on your account.

The panel's own "forgot password" link

DirectAdmin's login page has a "Forgot your password?" link that emails a reset to the account's contact address. cPanel's login page may show a Reset Password link. These need a valid contact email set inside the panel, so the client area route is more reliable.

The login page won't load

Work through these in order.

1. Check the address

It must start with https:// and end with the port: :2083 for cPanel, :2222 for DirectAdmin. A missing s or port gives a blank page or an error.

2. Test from another connection

Open the same address on your phone using mobile data (Wi-Fi off), or ask someone elsewhere to try.

  • It works on mobile data but not on your usual connection: your connection's IP address is probably blocked. Too many wrong password attempts cause this, and it is often a device you forgot about, such as an email program retrying an old password. You can't unblock yourself. Open a support ticket with your public IP address (search "what is my IP" from the affected connection). Fix the wrong password on every device first, or the block will return.
  • It fails everywhere: continue below.

3. Check your domain

  • If the domain is new or recently moved, DNS may not have updated yet. Use the server name or the client area login instead.
  • If the domain has expired, nothing on it will load. Check it in your client area.

4. Check for an outage

Visit status.webway.host. If the server is listed with a problem, we already know and are working on it.

5. Check your account

Log in to the client area. A suspended service shows a notice and unpaid invoices.

6. Office or public network blocking ports

Some networks block ports 2083 and 2222. If the page fails on Wi-Fi at work but works on mobile data and you have not had password failures, ask your network administrator to allow those ports, or manage your hosting from another connection.

Still stuck?

Open a support ticket and include:

  • The domain and which control panel you are trying to open.
  • The exact address you typed, and the exact error or message the browser shows (a screenshot helps).
  • Whether it works from another connection, such as a phone on mobile data.
  • Your public IP address from the connection that fails (search "what is my IP").
  • Whether the one-click login from the client area works.
  • When it last worked and anything that changed (new password, new device, new office network).
