# What is a Domain Name?

## How to Order a Domain Name through the Client Area

You can check the availability of a domain name through the client area by following the steps below or simply by visiting the domains page [here](https://webway.host/website-domains).

### Step 1: Access the Client Area

First, you need to log in to the [Client Area](https://portal.webway.host/login). You will need to login with the username and password you used to register. If you have not registered an account yet, you can register one [here](https://portal.webway.host/register)

### Step 2: Navigate to Domain Registration

Once logged in, hover over the domains icon on the left and click on `Register a New Domain`.

### Step 3: Search for Your Desired Domain Name

Enter the domain name you wish to register in the search bar to check its availability. A search will be conducted to determine whether the domain name is available for registration. If it's available, you can proceed; if not, you may need to try alternative names or TLDs.

### Step 4: Choose Your Domain Options

After finding an available domain, you'll have options to select such as the registration period (usually 1-10 years) and whether you want to add domain privacy protection, which keeps your personal information hidden from the public WHOIS database.
